ArcView 9.2 and Extensions Student Edition

ArcView 9.1 Student Edition One-Year Time-Out Software FAQs

Currently, UW instructors may now order at no charge, a copy of the 1 year ArcView student
license for students enrolled in their GIS courses.  This is ArcView Student 1-year Timeout Software that includes the ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, ArcGIS 3D Analyst, ArcGIS Geostatistical
Analyst and ArcGIS Network Analyst extensions. The professor must request software for his/her students and have it shipped to a site license address for verification purposes. Please submit only one quantity order per course please.

Packaging for the ArcView student timeout software will have a 1-year timeout code. One code will open the ArcView and the extensions checked off in the installation process. The software CD and documentation CD are in a plastic multi-media holder (like you see with DVD movies). Professors will be responsible for distributing the software to their qualified students. No hard copy documentation is included.

ESRI is currently honoring a promotion to provide this timeout software free to students who are taking GIS courses at a site license university.

The on-line ordering form isn’t quite ready but until then you may send an email to highered@esri.com with the following information and you’ll be sent media kits for your students upon verification that your university has a qualified ESRI site license in place.

  • Number of students:

Instructors may order complimentary desk copies of many of the ESRI’s books through the online desk copy request form at http://gis.esri.com/library/esripress/press_book.cfm. You are permitted to order 3 complimentary books per semester.

If you are wondering if you have any use for this software, here is a brief introduction to the technology. There is a more detailed introduction to GIS at www.gis.com which includes examples of applications across a broad range of fields.

Training courses (from 1 to 3 days) are available at the University of Wyoming for ArcGIS. University staff/students can also take free Virtual Campus courses on-line to learn about GIS and how to use ESRI's GIS software products. Please contact to obtain the course access codes.
